When the timing and location just don't work out...

08. Oct 2026 · Plakia, Greece (Crete) · 5 min read

Last evening yesterday in Rethymno...

Today's training perspective

The way to the new location...

Yeah, spring water again 😍❤️🙏

From there on the route became just so incredibly beautiful 😍

With waterfall in the middle...❤️

Access road to the bay...😊

And then something like this 😳

On the other hand, this is actually quite a cool spot...🤔

Yes, I then, since all other parking spaces are in the city or next to the promenade, spent 4 hours hauling stones, moving clay soil and thus created a lane for Frankie...😊

And with the help of a nice Austrian who agreed to act as "guide", we almost stayed on track 😂👍

Spoken Note
Right, it's time again for a voice message. 🤓
Or at least for those of you who "magt" that, yeah of course "magt" who like that! 🙄👻
Funnyyy!
Oh, Iven! That was kind of a big day, really. For sure.
Now I'm sitting here in the evening sun and best start with yesterday. No, it's actually over a week ago now.
Okay, so the thing is that Elias and Nikos are just too caught up in their daily business. They've got seven days a week and have their own rhythm in everything that goes with it. And I don't fit into that at all at the moment.
There are nice moments when we meet up. Like I said, I had a great evening with Nikos in his bar. The part where the live music came, namely on Tuesday, I didn't feel drawn to the city at all then. I cooked myself something delicious to eat and stayed home. Right, and today is Friday.
I had to get away from there a bit. Like I said, the parking lot isn't my thing. It's right in the middle of the city. I've got traffic all around me, people, and with it having rained and stormed for a whole week, then sitting in Frankie and not even having a nice space around you. That's not what I wanted to continue with.
And then the idea actually came, which I also told Nikos about, of course. He then said, hey, Plakia, you gotta go there, awesome beach, beautiful bay. And so I let that sink in. And yesterday a Swiss motorhome traveler came who's also given up everything. With him it's a different constellation. Still, it'll make a nice story, definitely. And he was parked in the parking lot too and we got talking yesterday. We also went briefly to the old town in Rethymno together, had coffee, chatted. And he actually suggested that to me too. I find that funny.
And so I actually, after having a sip of wine with him last night, and we kept exchanging more, he's staying for the winter now too, I think until mid-January or end of January, he's staying here on Crete. Then he's flying to Thailand and will probably come back here though.
Whatever, that'll get processed later sometime.
I actually had two crazy encounters today.
A Klaus, who's apparently lived on Crete for 23 years, supposedly in a cave, but was walking around with ironed trousers and snow-white shoes. Must be a pretty cool cave.
He was a bit loud and also had kind of an aggressive vibe, but didn't work on me at all.
While the couple from Bavaria, who are totally nice, also dropouts, young people, super cool, had a pretty absurd encounter with him at the end of the bay, because they go for walks with their four cats.
So they converted a van themselves in four weeks and took off. That's a cool story they told. Super nice. Maybe we'll run into each other again. Right, they're asking the guy with the big olive plantation if he still has a job for me. Right, so in the meantime meeting up with Manus, which I kind of thought, well he's officially been back since last Friday, so for a week now, that didn't happen either.
And I needed a bit of time for myself, without many people around.
Some of you know what October 9th still means to me. And whoever doesn't can feel free to ask me, I don't want to go into it here.
And right, today I'm going to be totally relaxed here, when I'm done with Frankie and the website has the current status, so the location can be seen too, I'm going to make myself a really cozy evening here.
I'm sitting by the sea, when I look to the right, there's an old grandpa sitting there, he's watching over his son who's out there with, I think 7mm full protection, with a big, fat harpoon. I can't even see his buoy, so he's really far out.
Right, and on the left side there are somehow two, three people sitting relaxed on the beach.
So, I'm going to be so alone here tonight.
I wish all of you, whenever you hear this, no matter when you hear it, right for today, for now, one more smile, a wonderful evening and peaceful, joyful moments. See you then!

Yes, tomorrow is Friday 😂 What am I supposed to do 🤷‍♂
